DAY 1: HÀ GIANG - QUẢN BẠ - LAO XA - MÃ PÌ LÈNG (H’MONG VILLAGE) - MÈO VẠC (or ĐỒNG VĂN)
Morning:
At 7:00 am, you will be picked up at your accommodation in Ha Giang city and have breakfast at an heirloom restaurant for more than 40 years with "Village duck noodle soup" specialty.
Then, we begin the journey to the Stone Plateau. On the way, we stop and stroll around some outstanding tourist attractions such as Heaven Gate, Double Mountain, Tham Ma Slope… Especially visit Lao Xa village - One of the most beautiful Hmong villages which still retains the pristine beauty and preserves its cultural values.
Noon:
Enjoy a family meal with locals at “Lao Xa old house” homestay, experience unique H’Mong typical dishes such as “mèn mén”, “tẩu chúa”, dried pork upstairs kitchen,...
Afternoon:
Explore Lao Xa village, there you have the opportunity to experience:
- Listen to ethnic melodies through traditional Hmong musical instruments such as: Khèn Mong, flute, lip lute... as well as cultural and historical stories behind those tunes.
- Learn about life in the rocky area: You will directly see and hear the sounds of the rocky mountains and the breathing of life there. Moreover, understand the Vietnamese saying “There is no mountain higher than the knees of the Hmong” or another saying “Live on the rock, die under the rock”. From these stories, we can deeply feel the "extraordinary energy" of ethnic community there.
- Learn about the traditional Hmong craft of silver carving.
Next, we drive to Ma Pi Leng pass - one of the four most beautiful peaks in Vietnam. On the way, you will also admire the typical natural beauties of Ha Giang and stop at Ma Pi Leng pass to experience:
- Trekking ½ walking route (about 7km) on the pass to explore the panorama of Ma Pi Leng, Nho Que river and the Hmong village standing on the rocky mountain. Bring some luckiness for the chance to admire the sea of clouds or the surreal sunset there! - The most stunning and picturesque view that you can not miss!
Evening:
Move to Meo Vac/Dong Van town to check in homestay/hotel. You can hang out around Dong Van/Meo Vac Old Quarter.
Take rest and eat dinner, enjoy the specialty black chicken hot pot with a variety of clean and delicious forest vegetables.
DAY 2: MÈO VẠC - DINH THỰ VUA MÈO - NẶM ĐĂM (DAO VILLAGE)
Morning:
At 7:00am, have breakfast at homestay or restaurant, then move to Nam Dam village (about 100km), on the way we will stop at:
Vuong Palace - The residence of the king called “Vua Meo” of the H’mong ethnic people, formerly self-governing this land, rich by selling opium, each year sold about 20 tons of drugs to China, France, Hong Kong, Macau…
Noon:
Have lunch in Yen Minh town.
Afternoon:
On the way to ethnic Dao village, we stop at:
- Lung Tam linen village - Find out and experience how handmade linen is born there. This is one of the products that is considered a "heirloom" of the H'Mong people.
Next, you’ll go to the community tourism village of the Dao people named Nam Dam. This is one of the most beautiful Dao villages in Ha Giang, where 100% of the house architecture and unique traditional costumes are still preserved. There you’ll have chance to experience:
- Walk around the village, visit the museum and hear about how the Dao people make their homes as well as understand their traditional cultures.
- Bathing with herbal leaves of the Dao people - Special experience not can not be missed when you come there. With many uses from herbal leaves, you’ll not only bathe in a hot tub with majestic mountain views but also greatly relax and recover after a long day on the road.
Evening:
Enjoy dinner with family with homegrown specialties such as hill chicken, grilled pork,... and cultural exchange with local people.
If we are lucky, we will be able to see the “lễ cấp sắc” ceremony held in the village. According to the custom of the Dao people, “lễ cấp sắc” is the coming-of-age ceremony of every man in the village. If the tour has many people, we can organize it separately for everyone to participate in and experience this unique ceremony.
DAY 3: NẶM ĐĂM – HÀ GIANG city – HẠ THÀNH (TAY VILLAGE)
Morning:
At 7:00 am, check-out homestay, move to Trang Kim town and enjoy a bowl of delicious hand-coated Phở that many people think is the best Phở in the North. Then move to Ha Giang city to visit the Tay ethnic community in Ha Thanh village.
Noon:
Enjoy lunch at Ha Thanh village with attractive Tay food specialties with fresh fish salad, duck, five-color sticky rice, seasonal bamboo shoots, colocasia gigantea salad…
Afternoon:
Explore around Ha Thanh village. This is proudly one of the most beautiful Tay villages in Ha Giang that still preserves 100% of the houses on stilts with palm leaf roofs interspersed with terraced fields. In addition, there are beautiful features in its unique customs, traditions and culture that impress you. There you’ll have a chance to experience:
- Admire the terraced fields next to the beautiful stilt houses and majestic mountains.
- Get a great insight into the lifestyle and culture of the Tay ethnic people such as how to build houses on stilts, pick rice on terraced fields... by entering a random house and interacting with the locals.
- Have a cool dip into the heart-shaped waterfall and enjoy its cool, limpid water with huge cliffs.
End of the journey, drive back to Ha Giang city. We take you back to your accommodation or bus station to go to other provinces such as Ha Noi, Cat Ba, Sapa, Ninh Binh...
