Right next to Km 0 Ha Giang is the Lo River flowing through the city, which is a legendary river mentioned in many historical books and poems. The Lo River originates from China and flows through Vietnam at the international border gate of Thanh Thuy (about 20km away) and meets the Mien River from the highland, flowing to Ha Giang city. That is why the name “Ha Giang” also arises from 2 rivers, meaning the small rivers flow into the large river.
