Located about 6km from Ha Giang City, Ha Thanh village is one of the most beautiful Tay villages in Ha Giang. It still retains its rustic and primitive features such as nearly 100% of the houses in this village being palm leaf thatched stilt houses. This is an ideal place for trekking, where you can experience some of the peace and daily life of the local people. Let explore with LOKA Ha Giang!
Although not far from Ha Giang City, not many people know about Ha Thanh Village. Ha Thanh is a small Tay village located at the foot of the Tay Con Linh range (the roof of Ha Giang). The entire village consists of just nearly 100 households, nestled among terraced rice fields and huge black rocks.
How to get to Ha Thanh Village
Follow National Highway 2 from the center of Ha Giang City towards the Thanh Thuy international border gate, at Km6, you will see the village gate on the left side of the road. Alternatively, you can use Google Maps to navigate to “Ha Thanh Village”. The best experience is to trek around the village to perceive the life there.
When trekking around the village, one thing you will notice is that each traditional stilt house has a small fish pond. The locals feed a special kind of fish as a family treasure. The people here are self-sufficient in their rice cultivation and animal husbandry. One thing that is even more impressive is that many generations still live together under the same roof.
One of the experiences not to be missed when coming there is swimming at waterfall 6 located at the end of the village. From here, you can also connect to the trekking trail up to “Na Thac – Khuoi My – Lung Vai” – primitive Dao villages located on the mountain slope”.
Tay Food – Enjoy the cuisine there!
In addition to experiencing the peaceful life there, you should not miss the chance to try the dishes with Tay flavor. Some of the outstanding dishes include multicolored sticky rice, salad of giant elephant ear (or Indian taro), steamed duck, and sashimi of a special fish (god fish). There are many local restaurants in the village ready to serve these dishes such as Ha Ha Quan, Dong Que, Khoi Vit, or at Lokahagiang homestay right in the village.
Accommodation in the village
Currently, there are many homestays opened in the village, you can choose to stay there to experience it the most vividly. Homestay in its true sense means living, eating, and experiencing the local life. And especially, you will also enjoy unique cultural features such as the Tinh instrument and Then singing…
Some suggested homestays are:
